Evo-All with Thar-char5 won't power on LED

–2 votes

Hardware version: 6

Firmware version: 74.08

RS232 protocol: FORTIN

Vehicle: Dodge Caliber 2009

I have connected the Thar-char5 cable and tested for power and ground. Getting 12 volts across  them.

I can not get the lights to come on. I have followed your directions step by step.

Holding in the programing button and then insert the 4 pin data link connector.

And nothing happens. Would you know what the problem would or could be?

If you cannot get any LEDs to turn on when holding the button and plugging ONLY the 4-pin black datalink connector, then there is no power going to the unit. (Red and black wires from 4-pin datalink connector)

So as I said, I have power of 12 volts on the red 4 pin datalink connector and continuity on black 4 pin datalink connector,  and 12V between them. So from what you said then, this Fortin Evo-All is faulty and must be returned. It was up date by the dealer. Iguess that thoses pins are not used in the updating process .

The 4-pin datalink is what is used to update the EVO-ALL.

Never said that.

Got the Flash Link Updater today. Loaded an older firmware on the evo-all , and the lights come on. Then loaded the latest firmware back on, and it powers up. So the problem is? not sure but there was power all along going into the evo-all. Thanks for your help, I'm feeling much  better.
