"2011 ram 1500" connecting "Encore E9" alarm with EVO-ALL and THAR-CHR4 compatiable?

0 votes
Hi, is the EVO-ALL compatible with an Encore E9 alarm? I plan on installing this in a 2011 RAM 1500. would i follow the regular Guide # 46661 with Data-Link? is there a setting to enable for the data-link? F2?

Thank you!

The Evo-All has 3 different datalink protocols to be able to communicate with over maybe 90% of remote starters on the market and for the remaining 10% there is always "wire to wire" analog connections whtich makes the Evo 100% compatible with all remote starters as long as the necessary signals are there.

As for the Encore, please check the installation guide and find out the default datalink protocol and match it with the Evo-All using the Flashlink Updater-2 (sold separately) with options F1 (Fortin) F2 (AP/OFA similar to idatalink) and F3 (D2D, most DEI products)

Thank you,

Thank you for your reply, it has a RS232 idatalink two way serial data port. I'm assuming I would set it to the F2 option? And the remote start feature would be through the Encore and not evo-all? Also I would follow the "regular" guide and not "stand alone"? Thank you!
If you are connecting a 3rd party remote starter then you will follow the "regular" installation.

"Standalone" refers to when ONLY the evo-all is installed in a compatible vehicle and is used to remote start the vehicle without needing a 3rd party remote starter unit.

If the DEFAULT datalink protocol on the Encore unit is " iDatalink " then yes, you will need to enable the F2 option (AP/OFA) which is compatible with the idatalink type protocol.
That is correct, Encore=idatalink protocol, set evo all to option F2 (AP/OFA)

You will follow the "regular" install guide,

Remote starting is still handled by the evo-all BUT it has to wait for activation signals from your remote starter unit compared to when the evo is in "standalone" mode then the evo handles all the starting sequence by itself.

Hi, thank you for your assistance. I am in the process of installig the system and looking at the wire diagram from wirecolor.com there is no Starter wire for this 2011 ram 1500. Other sites say Start wire is yellow/gray at the TIPM but not use for remote start. Would i use the Mux purple/brown with a relay? If yes, how would i configure the relay?

Thank you for your time!

Can you confirm that you are looking at guide number http://fortin.ca/download/46661/evo-all_ig_thr_bi_chr4-win_c_46661.pdf

There is no mention of a MUX wire in this install, we start this vehicle via the 2 can wires.

Yes, im using that guide. To clairfy, on the Encore side, how would i configre the starter disable relay if the vechile uses CAN wires? Or does the evo have a starter disable feature when using CAN?

Thank you.
There is no starter kill feature via CAN, there is no wire you can cut at the tip key module that will not cause the vehicle to pop a code.

And cutting the starter wire anywhere down the line will prevent remote starting since the interupt is too far down the circuit.

Thank you,
Thank you for your response. it sounds like starter kill wont work at all? Since the vechile's start wire is too far and uses CAN,  would I need to  install without Datalink (wire to wire)?
Datalink or "wire to wire" has no effect on the fact that there is no starter wire inside the vehicle to cut.

If you were only installing an alarm system, then yes, cutting a starter wire under the hood is a possibility.

Thank you,
Yay I got it working, is there a way to program the remote start to start on a 2nd click from the aftermarket remote? I tried programming through the aftermarket alarm but it doesn't work. Thank you
Do you mean you want it to only start on the 2nd press of the start button of the aftermarket remote?

If so, then you would need to contact the manufacturer of the remote start module to see if it is an option that is supported in their options.

Thank you,
Hi again, the system was working great for 2 weeks. Unfortunately, for some reason it does remote start anymore and when when I press the arm button the doors do not lock and disarm does not unlock the doors. Suggestions? Does the evoall have a diagnostic via LED? Thank you.
The evo only had diagnostics via the led if it's in standalone mode.

The remote starter itself should have parking light diagnostics.

One test you can perform is to locate the purple and purple/white wires in the 20 pin connector and touch them to a grounded part of the vehicle. To see if the vehicle will lock or unlock.

Do you have a Flashlink Updater-2?
Hi thank you for the reply, I was able to get working. For some reason the power plug connector was loose.
Hi, for some reason the remote start and lock/unlock do not work properly all the time. Sometimes the remote start will try to engage but it just cycles with no start/crank. Also randomly the arm button will not lock but it chirps once and unlocking button will lock the door as if the buttons were reversed. In a previous post I said the power plug was loose. This is not the case. To get the system working again i have to unplug and replug the power cable from the evoall. What would cause this intermittent problem? Something grounding? Thank you.
